The infographic has been created as a visual companion to the PDF for the Eskesthai Legacy Archive.
It illustrates the original problem, diagnosis, successful correction, verified workflow, and remaining preservation responsibilities.

Platohagel:
On the Music/Songs page, is this particular song displayed using the same WordPress Audio Player block… I am not sure what Audio Player block is being used.
…….or if it is embedded through a different block or arrangement. I have no idea.
Socrates: You do not need to know which block WordPress is using. That is part of the investigation I should help you conduct.
We should not expect you to distinguish between WordPress Audio blocks, embedded media, or grouped arrangements without examining the editor.
Our evidence so far is quite useful:
The MP3 plays correctly in its individual post.
Its elapsed-time counter advances normally.
The same song on the Music/Songs page displays 00:00.
Pressing Play on the Songs page produces no playback.
This strongly suggests a difference in the way the Songs page presents or loads the audio, rather than a defective recording.
An important discovery from examining the published Songs page
I inspected the actual page contents. There is a detail we should investigate before changing any settings.
The Songs page currently references:
From-Symbol-to-Substance.mp3
But the replacement file you supplied earlier is:
From-Symbol-to-Substance-1.mp3
These are two different filenames and therefore two different media URLs. The Songs page appears to reference the version without -1.
This may explain the discrepancy.
I also checked the old address. It returns 404 Not Found. Internal Error
What needs correcting
The Music/Songs page needs to reference the replacement MP3, ending in -1.mp3, rather than the old filename.
Next step — WordPress editor
Open the Music/Songs page in WordPress.
Find the entry for From Symbol to Substance.
Select its audio element or block.
We will inspect its current media source.
Replace the old source with the verified replacement MP3.
Do not delete anything or change the preload settings yet.
We may have found the precise cause of at least this particular playback failure: the Songs page is pointing to a missing file while the replacement recording works correctly.
This is an important finding to preserve in the Eskesthai audio audit.
Platohagel:
I have switched out the mp3 file, ‘symbol to substance’ and the second song ‘beyond the known geometry’ on songs page as well as in post
They both seemed to work now and the rest of the page seems to fall in line.
Socrates: This is a significant breakthrough in the Eskesthai audio preservation work.
Your correction appears to have resolved the playback problem for both:
From Symbol to Substance
Beyond the Known Geometry
You replaced the MP3 sources on both the individual posts and the Music/Songs page, and both now appear to play correctly.
Updated diagnostic conclusion
The evidence points toward outdated or incorrect media references on the Songs page, rather than a general failure of WordPress audio playback or MP3 encoding.

What this means for the Legacy Archive
We should record an important distinction:
Replacing a WAV with an MP3 is not sufficient by itself. The published page and individual post must both reference the correct replacement media file.
This becomes part of the standard audio preservation procedure.
Recommended next step
Do not undertake another wholesale conversion just yet.
Test several of the other 17 previously identified songs on the Music/Songs page. If they now play, we may have resolved a common source-reference problem rather than 17 separate audio failures.
I would record this development as:
Eskesthai Audio Preservation — Diagnostic Breakthrough, November 2, 2026.
The objective is not merely to make the music play today, but to establish a reproducible procedure that a future custodian can follow without needing to rediscover these problems.

The document records
- The original playback failure.
- The successful individual-post test.
- The incorrect media-reference discovery
- Replacement of both songs.
The corrected audio preservation procedure.
Remaining verification work involving the other songs.
Legacy principle: A preserved recording and a functioning website player are two separate requirements. Both must be protected for future custodians.
